Autism Expertise Center & Academy (AECSU-AASU)

Autism Expertise Centre (AECSU) is a medical specialist healthcare institution recognised by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. The first location of the Autism Expertise Centre (AECSU) opened its doors in 2009. The Autism Expertise Centre & Academy now has 5 branches spread across 4 countries. We work from the Positive Mind Method (PMM) developed by our founder Sebiha Unal, which focuses on interests and talents. The Positive Mind Method (PMM) is now used worldwide at other treatment centres and clinics (licence holders) in addition to our own autism centres. The programmes within the Autism Expertise Centre (AECSU) are generally designed to reduce inappropriate behaviour and increase desired behaviour. By developing practices that promote positive qualities and focusing on the area of interest in which the person with autism promotes his or her positive emotions, the emphasis can be placed on specific targeted behaviour to the focus on improving intrinsic values. By looking at intrinsic values, programming and interventions can be expanded to enhance these character strengths within a wide range of therapeutic techniques that include positive problem solving. Treatment and programming can continue to focus on basic principles of behavior change while incorporating visual support, repetitive practice, high levels of reinforcement, and a positive problem solving approach to create opportunities for individuals to become more independent and fulfilled. For example, if an individual with autism consistently destroys community property, in addition to a program that targets property destruction, our professionals can also address the long-term value of being a productive and integrated community member. To achieve this, interventions reinforce kind, empathetic, and courageous behavior and teach optimistic thinking. At the Autism Expertise Center, research is continually conducted in collaboration with universities and institutions (worldwide) to identify and implement new intervention strategies. With our team consisting of Positive Mind Autism Coaches (PMAC), psychologists and social workers, we value first getting to know the person in front of us as an individual and not from the general characteristics of autism. The Positive Mind Method (PMM) is a method from positive psychology that focuses on talents and interests. From this positive approach, talents play an important role when we talk about getting the best out of it. Based on the interests and talents, we work on what the person is less good at. The person with autism learns to apply the positive way of thinking. Autism Academy (AASU) offers courses in the field of positive psychology & autism according to the Positive Mind Method (PMM). In addition to the entire training to become a Positive Mind Autism Coach (PMAC), the module(s) can also be followed as a course per subject. The lesson days can be followed both in class and online. The lessons in class are given at various other locations (in-company) in addition to the locations of our autism academy.
